"So let's get this straight," Dancer said to the blonde twins before her. "Both of you are dating Hatman. At the same time."

"Well, until he gets smart and sees through my phoney sister," agreed Jenni.

"He's a hunk of burning love," Trudi replied. "But really it's me he's seeing. We just keep her around out of charity, so she's not at home every night watching soaps and eating beans out of a can."

"And because she needs somebody when she has the fits," Jenni added viciously. "To give her her medication, and stop her scratching all her rashes."

"You're sure you're actually dating Hatty?" Dancer checked uncertainly.

"He, um, gave us your contact details and said you'd make arrangements."

"Arrangements for what?" Dancer wondered, with growing fascination. It seemed Jay Boaz was finally getting out of his Sorceress funk.

"Arrangements for... um..." Jenni puzzled. She'd just reached the end of the plan.

"For us to meet him at the Lair Legion Christmas party," Trudi cut in. "Yes, we're hoping to surprise him. At the biggest superhero bash of the year."

Dancer considered this. "Sounds romantic," she agreed with a mischievous twinkle in her eye. "Let me make a few calls. I'll see what I can do."

"You will?" Jenni skipped in excitement. "I mean, you will."

"The Lair Legion Christmas Party!" Already Trudi was planning her ensemble. And how to set fire to Jenni's.

Dancer grinned. "You shall go to the ball."
