A jolly good double-helping-sized edition featuring the LL under temporary new management, brought to you by... the Hooded Hood

Okay, fine... the story was adequately excellent, as usual. I mean, if you like that kind of thing. Which I do. Mostly. With one or two (or four) sticking points.

The showdown between Mumph and the Hood lived up to the billing. Quite a bit of fun, and much more antagonistic than I first envisioned. (Of course, in hindsight, it's hard to imagine Mumphrey handling it any other way, but still...) It's a good clash of philosophies, and I do like seeing "noble" villains called out. I especially liked the chance Mumphrey extended to him. Classy. Of course, Mumphrey is going to leave and then there's just going to be us and a grumpy HH, so that's a drawback. But, really, there comes a time when you just have to go beyond hinting that a house guest should probably move on.

The Asil & Kerry meeting went better than I would have expected, actually. What are the chances?

Okay, so the scene with the gov. liason started out well... I mean, not for poor Amber, and once again Mumphrey's not wearing the kid gloves, so I'm guessing more people are going to be grumpy at us. But see, here's where things began to break down. I'm pretty sure I was appointed to some kind of associate LL role for life. Do you know how many tax audits a grumpy government can give a person in a lifetime? I don't. Yet.

So then we get a very touching Bry and Laurie scene, with a twist ending that makes me want to slap Bry. Not for doing anything wrong, just for kind of messing up the happily ever after vibe. Seriously, though... Taking her to Beth's, of all places? And people say I'm slow witted...

Liked the Willow scene. Helped me to keep a running tally of the grumpy people who will want me dead for my associations.

Ditto with the orphanage scene. In many ways, it's refreshing to see the LL dealing in such uncomplicated ways with the bad guys of the Parodyverse. (Not that punching them has been all that complicated). But you've probably picked up on that feeling of impending dread on my part as it's all going to come back.

The Messy, L and Epitome recruitment scenes were a good inclusion... Very interesting potentials, each of them. Lord knows what kind of team there would have been if they all had said yes. I was kind of surprised that the offer was made to Epitome to change the LL from the inside (or at least try). Falcon's line at the end of that was just great.

Nice glimpse at Finny and DK. That'll be one long, quiet ride. They should try playing "I spy something that begins with the letter..." to pass the time.

Okay, then we hit another snag. Sure, Sarah covered up her secret identity slip-up very, um... smoothly. But then I'm pretty sure I became a parent. Or something. I'm not entirely sure on this one. But if I did become a parent, I somehow missed out on the fun part that happens 9 months before hand. And the whole childhood bonding thing. I'm thinking maybe I became a parole officer with more personal responsibility instead. And what is wrong with that Ma Shepherdson? That whole family needs to evaluate their judgements.

So then we finish up, and I learn that:
1) I'm back in the LL
2) I'm still teaching
3) I'm still in charge of Kerry
4) I'm still not getting paid.

Which wouldn't be so bad, except for the fact that it is. I thought the whole reason take in children was to collect that welfare check from the state. Even Martha Stewart is going to be paid for doing the prison laundry. Here I am, teaching and raising the young, (with tenure, apparently...) and I'm going to need to flip burgers to pay the mortgage.

Ah well... with all of the grumpiness Mumph is spreading around, that "for life" appointment will likely be short anyway.

So kudos on the great story with the few sticking points. Really one of your best chapters overall. If you like that sort of thing.
