Dear Diary,

I’m not sure why I went today. I was up all night talking it over with myself, and when I got up this morning I still wasn’t sure I was going to go. I printed off my resume and cover letter before leaving for work, just in case I decided to go.

I was reminded why I was thinking of applying for another job when I got to work this morning. Mr. Radmox flipped out as soon as I walked in the door. He insisted that the errors on the figures he’d sent to accounting were my fault, because if it was wrong it had to have been me. As he stormed off in a huff I had to resist the urge to scream at him how I was constantly fixing his mistakes and the only reason accounting got a report with errors was I was off work on Friday sick.

I wouldn’t even bother fixing his mistakes for him except I don’t want to make poor Helga suffer. She has to deal with so many mistakes from so many departments already I just want to ease her burden. That’s what friends are for, right? And seeing as how she’s the only real friend I have in the building, I’m glad to help her out any way I can.

So when nobody was looking I split, and went to the job interview. I drove up to their Mansion and I couldn’t help being impressed with the view from their island. The city skyline looks beautiful with a clear blue sky and the sun shining bright overhead.

I wasn’t kept waiting long, and I was called in for my interview by a pretty blonde girl. She escorted me to her boss’ office, introduced me, and left. I was nervous, but he was nice and put me at ease. I do admit I felt a little over dressed compared to his blue jeans and baseball cap.

After explaining that I had heard of an executive assistant position opening up, he told me that the girl who had brought me in had actually just been hired. He was genuinely apologetic that I had made the trip for nothing, which helped me to contain my disappointment. He invited me to apply again should anything else open up, and showed me out.

I didn’t really feel like going back to work, so I went home instead. Looking over the job websites, it looked like I was going to be staying with Centerspoon Catering Services for a while longer.

I stopped off at my coffee shop on the way home from work. As soon as she saw me come in Sarah had my order ready for me. We chatted for a few minutes, and I couldn’t help but feel a little better about my day dealing with Mr. Radmox. Sarah has that effect on people.

I was already watching television when I got home, so I went and started on dinner. Jerry would be over soon and I wanted to have everything ready. Tonight was our 4 month anniversary after all.

I straightened up the apartment while dinner was cooking, and grabbed a shower while I was at it. I was just finishing getting dressed and tossing the salad when the door buzzer rang. I pulled myself together and let Jerry up.

We had a wonderful night Diary, we really did. We had dinner, we danced in my living room, we snuggled on the couch. It was all going really well, until he broke up with me. He broke up with me! He said he was scared to be with me with all of this Special Resolution 1066 stuff going on. So he broke it off, scared away by my power.

Oddly enough though, I didn’t cry. I felt kind of miserable up until now, as I write this, but if he’s going to break things off just because of something like this, I’m probably better off without him. I don’t know what he was worried about, it’s not like I’m some superhero or something. I’m just a regular girl who happens to have the ability to split into multiple copies of herself. He sure didn’t complain about my powers when we were in bed, that bastard.

But I’m home from pottery class now Diary, so I think it’s time I wrap this up. Tomorrow’s another day of my wonderful job at the arena. Oh joy. Another exciting day in the life of DupliKate.
