Apologies to the DBS and Epitome writers if I screwed stuff up. I just threw this together because it was amusing at the moment.

Adventures In Parodyverse - Double Knot

Yuki Shiro just stared calmly as Josh Clement, aka De Brown Streak, entered her new quarters without bothering to knock, and then proceeded to sit down at her table thump his head against against it repeatedly.

"You know, that's a lot more dangerous when your skull isn't made of titanium," Yuki pointed out quietly as she resumed reading the newspaper.

Josh mumbled something self-pitying in response, but Yuki didn't really pay attention to what it was. Instead she folded up the newspaper and stood over him. "Care to tell me why you're trying to demolish my furniture with your face?"

He said the same thing louder, but this time Yuki heard him even though he was speaking directly to the surface of the table. "Why do I have to be so nice?" he said.

"Let me translate," Yuki interpreted, "Hot vulnerable babe, but you were too nice to spend the night inventing new laws of physics with her."

He lifted his head and frowned at her. "Have you been working with Al B Harper again?"

"Working with? No." Yuki sat down across from Josh at the table but didn't bother to elaborate.

"You and Al B...?" He groaned out loud and returned his face to the table's surface. "Now I really feel like a loser."

"You should," Yuki told him. He looked up at her and seemed hurt. "Because you're trying to shatter your skull instead of finding someone else to hit on."

DBS seemed to perk up at that. "Do you want to--"

"That ship has sailed," Yuki interrupted him as she stood quickly. "Now pull yourself together, cause I have work to do." She left the room abruptly, expecting him to leave too.

He left the room, all right, and began following her down the hall. "What kind of work?" he asked.

Yuki sighed. "In case you haven't heard, I'm being sued. I have to do research."

"Oh, that. I told you, just hand it over to Lisa."

"I did," Yuki informed him, "But considering that they've accused me of being an automated robot to be dismantled I feel I have a much more personal stake in it."

"Maybe you should talk to Hallie about that. She has a lot of experience with--"

"Hallie can't be dismantled," Yuki pointed out patiently even as her teeth began grinding from the mere comparison of her with an artificial A.I., "She can just send her conciousness somewhere else or make backup copies. I'm trapped in this body."

"I--" Josh tried to come up with another helpful suggestion but he couldn't think of one. "I...guess I'm as lost as you are. I'd hate to lose you though."

"Me too," Yuki joked. "I mean geez...running from the Machine Shop was bad enough. I can't imagine having to run from law enforcement too. And probably Mr. Epitome, when his office assigns him to track down and destroy me."

"He can hear through walls, you know," Josh warned her.

Almost as if it on cue, Mr. Epitome stepped out of the doorway of Sir Mumphrey Wilton's office and nearly collided with Yuki and DBS. He was frowning, making it obvious that he heard the entire conversation.

"Please," he said in an almost wooden manner, his expression unchanging, "Don't stop talking on account of me." He walked away slowly.

"Hmm." Yuki whispered. She sighed deeply. "I think...I hurt his feelings."

"Didn't you hear?" Josh asked. "He had his mind wiped or something. Lost fifteen years of memories, and age."

Without another word, Yuki raced after the man, surprising even DBS with her sudden burst of speed. She caught up to Epitome, passed him in a blur of purple hair, and then turned around to meet him. "Hey," she spoke to him softly, looking at him with sympathetically. "I'm really sorry. I didn't know what happened to you."

"I suppose I may have done something to deserve it." Epitome shrugged. "Only you remember for sure."

"No. No, you didn't." Yuki held her hand out and offered a handshake. "I'm sorry, I was terribly unfair to you. I promise I won't do it again."

"Okay." Epitome shook her hand and gave her a fake smile, and then moved on.

"I don't think I've seen anyone be so nice to him," DBS commented. "And he just brushed you off."

"No, he didn't," Yuki told him. "He's...I dunno, like a ghost. All business, like he doesn't really want to be here or talk to anyone. I kind of feel bad for him."

"For him?" Josh sounded outraged. "What about me and everyone else he persecuted for years?"

"He doesn't remember it." Yuki reached over and ruffled his hair. "But don't worry there'll be plenty others to persecute you."

    "And you," he pointed out.

"Yeah." Yuki sighed. "I guess it's back to the research."
